Aurora Aksnes, born June 15th of 1995 in Stavanger and professionally referred to as Aurora often stylized in uppercase as AURORA is an Norwegian musician and singer. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves by Decca Records was released on May 15th of 2015 and received great reviews from bloggers and music critics as well as the press. The singer has released a number of high-profile covers, such as Half the World Away (by Oasis) for the Christmas advert. She gained some further recognition from a post by Katy Perry where Perry endorsed her track Runaway. Celebrate her birthday. Aurora Aksnes' earliest memory of music was discovering an old grand piano hidden in the attic. She was fascinated by its capabilities. Jan Oystein Aksnes was her father. They encouraged her not to play music only for pleasure or as a means of growing, but that she must take it seriously. For this reason she wrote her first original compositions. Alongside Bjork as well, she mentions Leonard Cohen as an influence. Her mother had told her the songs she composed might not gain fame for her but instead to inspire people to see their own value and impact on the world, she started performing them publicly. At age 6 she started playing the piano and at nine was writing music. This was not known to her family until she was fourteen. Aurora did not have a set goal. She says she just likes writing songs. For her, music is the most effective method of expressing anything.
